FAQ's
Freqently Asked Questions
> How much does it cost to build a log home?  Building costs vary by area, but as a rule of thumb, log home building prices start at about the same price as you could build a conventional stick frame home.   A good way to calibrate on the approximate cost of a log home in your area would be to check your local newspaper's Sunday Classified ads.
Check out the average cost of custom homes ($/ square foot) in the communities in your area.  This is a good starting point to plan the
cost of your log home.

> How long does it take to stack the logs for one of your homes?  Most
of our log homes can be stacked in 3-4 days.

> Does it take any special skills to stack the logs?  One of the services
we provide our customers is an on-site representative from Log Homes
of Cloudcroft when you are ready to erect your logs.  We provide this
service free of charge.  Therefore, the other people present for the work
need not be skilled at stacking logs.

> Can I build one of your homes myself, or do I need a contractor?
Many people build their own log homes.  It is, however, a job that
requires several skills to complete successfully.  If you would feel
comfortable building your own conventionally framed home, then
you could be just as comfortable building your own log home.  If
you are in doubt, it is best to have a professional build your home.
Depending on building codes/permit requirements in your location,
you may be able to do some of the work yourself and sub-contract
other work that you are not capable of doing.  Give us a call and we
can work with you to determine what you can do in your area.

> Can Log Homes of Cloudcroft build my home for me?  We do not
provide general contracting services, but we are happy to help you
find a contractor that you will feel comfortable working with.  We will
also help you generate  "bid specifications" and a "request for bid"
proposal so that when you get bids from different contractors, you
can be assured that they are all bidding on the same specifications.

> Does Lodge Logs offer a warranty on their product?  A warranty
is an important consideration.  Unlike most log manufacturers, Lodge
Logs offers a limited lifetime warranty.  Call for details.
